Media Relations
Results. Results. Results.

During my career, I've focused on delivering media coverage that "makes more people buy more stuff faster." Of course, it's a bit more complicated than that, but ... not much. I've created and managed media relations programs that accomplish many different types of products and services and accomplish goals ranging from recruiting staff to helping companies receive a fair valuation. Here are some samples that include Online Services, Recruiting and Employee Satisfaction, and Customer Testimonials.

Online Services

On behalf of Alibris, an online new and used book marketpleace, I helped create a day of street theater on the Berkeley during freshman orientation. The goal was to help students learn about the used textbook market Alibris created and manages.

CenterBeam, an outsourced IT services company, opened an engineering and support center in Saint John, New Brunswick. On the company's behalf I created a media and public affairs program designed to help the company recruit staff.

BY KEVIN BARRETT

It was a big night for Kevin Francis and the gang at CenterBeam in Saint John. First off, Mr. Francis, CenterBeam's president and chief executive officer, was named the industry person of the year during Thursday's provincial Knowledge Industry Recognition and Achievement awards at the Delta Fredericton.

And CenterBeam, a highly technical operations support centre based in Saint John, won another category for employment growth in New Brunswick for its efforts in 2004. [more]

'Solutions centre' moving to N.B.

CenterBeam's announcement Thursday that it will create nearly 300 jobs over the next three years was heralded as more than a simple jobs announcement, partly because of the company's decision to set up shop in a heritage building in uptown Saint John. "It is a commitment to this community," Saint John Portland MLA Trevor Holder said while making the announcement at the Delta Brunswick Hotel on behalf of Business New Brunswick Minister Peter Mesheau. Outsourcing IT at the Same Time You Move Your Company

It’s hard enough to move IT operations to a service provider. But imagine planning to outsource at the same time you’re moving the company to a different state. Is this a project management nightmare or a bold stroke of genius? This case study, which features healthcare services provider ChartOne and IT operations vendor CenterBeam, exposes a little of both. Plus, you’ll be able to read through collateral material, including a cost assessment spreadsheet that is a great starting point for sorting through your IT expenses and a sample of an IT Support Case Analysis supplied by the vendor to the client on a real-time basis. Money Talks

My advice to CTOs and CIOs who spend significant time on mundane desktop-support issues: The sooner you let that function go, the better. The depth, breadth, and quality of service from companies such as CenterBeam and Everdream scream "game over" for the desktop-support professional as soon as more companies wake up to a value proposition that is already there -- right now.
